Beirut – one of the oldest cities inhabited more than 5,000 years ago- and once the city of culture, law, charm, hospitality & generosity, is deeply wounded as a result of decades of war, civil war, invasions, occupations, corruption, justice absence, and political bitterness.

August 4th, 2020 disaster: Hangar12 @ the Port of Beirut containing 2,750 tons of extremely dangerous material (and God knows what) dumped 6 years ago without protection/safety measures, in addition to ignorance on expelling the material out, lead to a historical explosion.

Investigation on determining the type of the exploding material and what triggered the explosion (accident, sabotage, terrorism, or other) is ongoing.

The Blast generated seismic waves equivalent to 3.5 magnitude earthquake heard & felt by 200km far Cyprus.  Damped by the sea open space, the city could have simply been wiped out by the explosion. The explosion is considered 3rd largest non-nuclear recorded in history with a blast equivalent to 20% of The Little Boy Hiroshima atomic bomb.  The two larger explosions ever recorded are believed to be a planned detonation of conventional explosives (experimental) performed in North America back in 1985 and 1987 with approximate yield of 4000+ tons of TNT.

Our sympathy goes to Beirut families, Beirut the City. The memory of victims with souls lost in such a way and on such a land is chiseled on Beirut’s historical walls and corners.

With Beirut … we stand strong
