Double track railway tunnel with adjacent service tunnel for high speed railway crossing main range of the Alps.

Extremely difficult geological conditions with the following design conditions:

  • a maximum overburden of 900 m.
  • X-section 120m² running tunnel, 15m² service tunnel
  • length 22,2km
  • New Austrian Tunneling Method.
  • Lab testing program including assessment of Design Rock Strengths, planning & execution of uniaxial, triaxial, shear and creep test series.
